STELLA school is a full immersion training-and-research action in the field of laser physics and nonlinear optics, where highly qualified training in modern experimental and numerical techniques is delivered on top-level research facilities. Following the successful 2007 first edition and 2008 second edition, hosted by Vilnius University and by FORTH in Heraklion, respectively, the third edition will take place at ICFO in Barcelona, where young EU scientists will be trained in the field of "new laser sources for high harmonic generation and extreme nonlinear optics". World leading specialists from different EU and USA institutions, fs laser facilities, one computer cluster as well as suitable technical support will be put at students' disposal for the period 15-30 of April 2009.
Special courses will be also delivered by guest researchers on their latest achievements.
The April 2009 STELLA_school initiative is promoted jointly by

STELLA school proposes to the scientific community a highly innovative approach of training in research, which de-emphasizes competition among the laboratories in favor of true enhancement of knowledge levels. The goal is attained by means of fairly large research events, followed by suitable mobility and web-based knowledge-management plan. The concerted action is aimed at establishing a long-term, tightly knit collaboration via the creation a high-level knowledge reservoir, shared among the participating European young scientist community.
